ShopRite LPGA Classic now underway
June 6, 2025
The ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer returns to Seaview Resort in Galloway, NJ with a 54-hole contest June 6-8.
The New Jersey supermarket chain celebrates its 31st anniversary as lead sponsor, a record unmatched by any LPGA tournament.
At a May 21 press meeting, Tournament Director Ryan Dever said, “As always, we’re looking forward to continuing raising the bar with charitable donations, helping deserving charitable organizations in the communities that ShopRite stores serve.”
“Annually ShopRite donates more than $1.5 million back to charity with a target of the same for 2025. Throughout the lifespan of the tournament that number has eclipsed $40 million and is continuously growing,” he said.
ShopRite also increased its direct support of LPGA players. Dever said, “Five different LPGA athletes are joining Team ShopRite, donning the logo throughout the season. They’ll also be included in special event programming at the [Tournament’s] Bay Course as well as throughout the year as part of ShopRite’s initiatives in markets they serve.”
“In addition, they are upping the ante by providing complimentary hotel accommodations for all participants in the field during the week of the 2025 ShopRite LPGA Classic, which is great for the athletes to not have to worry about some of the financial expenditures that come along with playing week in and week out on the LPGA Tour and just worry about what’s taking place on the golf course and taking home that trophy on Sunday,” he said.
For Cape Region fans, the tournament is a short ride up the Garden State Parkway from the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal, with $20 one-day tickets available online at shopritelpgaclassic.com. Televised coverage is on The Golf Channel.
All-State and All-Conference Honors
Several Cape Region high school golfers earned recognition for their 2025 season performances.
All-State honors went to players who finished highest in the season-long DIAA State handicap rankings in the boys’ or girls’ categories.
Avery Brown of Delmarva Christian Academy led the Cape Region contingent among the boys with his First Team selection. Jake Hollerbeck of Sussex Central, winner of last week’s state boys’ championship, earned Second Team honors, along with Ryan McNett of Cape Henlopen.
Sawyer Brockstedt of Rehoboth Beach, a senior at Tower Hill Prep, earned First Team honors in the girls’ category. Ellie Walls of Indian River and Gabby Hamstead of Cape Henlopen earned Second Team status.
All-Henlopen Conference honors went to players with the best scoring average relative to par on the courses they played in the HAC conference matches.
Hollerbeck and McNett won First Team All-Conference awards. Kingston Davis and Tyler Healy of Cape Henlopen joined Sussex Academy’s Ryan Dostal, Sam Metz, and Quentin Bowman in making Second Team All-Conference.
The HAC Honorable Mention category winners included Cape’s Jacob Gabbard, Indian River’s Walls, Sussex Central’s Trevor Clark, Sussex Tech’s Corey Duke, and Sussex Academy’s Dominic Piperno.
Kudos to DIAA State Tournament host

Matt Ashworth, Director of Golf for St. Anne’s
The DIAA and the Golf Association of Philadelphia gave high marks to St. Anne’s Golf Links in its first year of hosting the 2025 state high school golf tournament.
Grant Morse, the GAP staffer who oversaw the course set-up, said, “The greens were in great shape. They were rolling true. Some hole locations were challenging. In some areas where you had a downhill, you had to be careful because otherwise it’s going five feet past the hole, and you had to run it back up. It’s just a challenging course but I think they handled it well. There were some good scores out there.”
DIAA golf committee Secretary Kevin Charles sent a note to St. Anne’s Director of Golf Matt Ashworth: “I don’t think any other course has been more accommodating and welcoming than St. Anne’s. Everyone was pleasant and polite. It felt as though they couldn’t do enough for us.”
Ashworth said, “We’re really trying to make our mark with the recent changes in ownership, so we’re excited to host the event. I’m grateful for the opportunity. We met as a team in the days prior teaming out where we’re going to be, how we’re going to handle it. We tried to think of things that may come up so we could handle them and make it as seamless as possible. A lot of preparation was done. I’m surrounded by a bunch of great people that are really dedicated to what they do and what we’re trying to do here.”
